The Bible stipulates tithing on the order of 10%. Jesus himself said that he did not come to abolish the law, but fulfill it. Therefore, tithing is still a commandment for us. But why only 10%? If we are truly to give up everything, why not 100%?
Also ... since when do you rely on the Bible for support of your positions? I thought you rejected the Bible as a source of truth. I don't mean that to be as snarky as it sounds. But I was under the impression that you'd concluded the Bible was no trustworthy. So I'm left wondering how you know those passages are trustworthy? My cynical side can easily see how a corrupt church bureaucracy could cook that stuff up so people would sell everything and give it to ... the church.
