Lewis Revealed

Hehe, you've got me interested, apparently Lewis wrote his trilogy in rebuttal to:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_and_First_Men by Olaf Stapleton. Now I have to read it! From the wikipedia:

The story follows a repetitive cycle, with many different civilizations rising from and descending back into savagery (1), but it is also one of progress, as the later civilizations rise to far greater heights than the first. The book anticipates genetic engineering (2) and the idea of superminds composed of many telepathically-linked individuals (3)

(1) the evidence would suggest just that. All of the 10 million known modern species are descended from just 4 of the 20 distinct species found in the Burgess Shale, the best record of The Cambrian Explosion. Question: what happended to the other 16 ?

(2) we have such a thing

(3) I predict that this will happen but through embedded chips in our brains communicating through an IPV8 network.

He claimed that these ideas were immoral and wrote his trilogy as a pillory of them. I looked up pillory and found it meant:

"to expose to public derision, ridicule, or abuse"

Open your mind sir !
