Truth (again)

I have other points to respond to on, some good points you have raised, but I'd like to offer something against :

If Christianity is true, then Buddhism is utterly false.
If Christianity is not true, then Buddhism may be true.

Rapping with The Prof gave me the overwhelming impression that our Universe is like "a shadow of what is really out there". For example the shadow of a 3D cube can be a flat 2D square. And the shadow of a 4D hypercube can be a 3D cube.

You get shadows by "projecting" nD objetcs into (n-1)D spaces.

I'm currently watching a movie called Moonstruck.

In that movie the actress Cher is flat, she's moving around a thin liquid crystal TFT display. But she's not "really" flat, she's a 3D person with bumps. I wonder what her 4D self looks like? (Current theory says that there are 11 spacial dimensions, there is direct physical evidence for a fourth spacial dimension too).

So to take your logic to the Cher case we get:

If Cher is flat, then to say she has bumps is utterly false.
If Cher is not flat, then she might have bumps.

If I am a flatlander and all I can experience is the TFT display then Cher is indeed flat, or so it would seem. I think such statements on "truth" do not work in the real physical Universe, where things are unknown to us. They only work within the safe confines of a system of mathematical axioms, or in the limited view we have of the Universe. Good movie though.

Irrational and transcendental numbers are interesting. In 1995 (or was it 1997) a formula was discovered that will tell you what the n-th digit of pi is. You don't need to work out any of the 0 to n-1 digits. That's pretty amazing. But it only works in hexadecimal arithmetic.

Your idea of going to higher spacial dimensions to look for "how things really are" is along the lines of my thinking. But there needs to be a point where it converges, current theory says it stops at the 11th spacial dimension, maybe that 11th dimension is the root of where "reality" really is.

And death. If you die on Earth is it like someone switching the TV off on the 2D people? They don't die in "the real world". They go on. Will you go on after death?
