And Your Bird Can Sing

"You tell me that you’ve got ev’rything you want
And your bird can sing
But you don’t get me
You don’t get me.

You say you’ve seen seven wonders

And your bird is green
But you can’t see me
You can’t see me.

When your prized possessions
Start to wear you down
Look in my direction
I’ll be round, I’ll be round.

You tell me that you’ve heard ev’ry sound there is
And your bird can swing
But you can’t hear me
You can’t hear me.

When your bike is broken
Will it bring you down?
You may be awoken
I’ll be round, I’ll be round.

You tell me that you’ve got ev’rything you want
And your bird can sing
But you don’t get me
You don’t get me

Lennon/McCartney"

For me, the Anthology 2 version of this song, the one in D rather than the capo'd-to-E version on Revolver is the best song ever written. I challenge anyone to listen to it and not smile along with John Lennon who just cannot contain his joy (admittedly perhaps drug induced). I could listen to it all day.

The reason I raise it here is that I believe if Jesus were into writing pop songs then he would have written something like And Your Bird Can Sing. And the Beatles have in the past been referred to as "God's House Band" of course.

The lady who stays with the babies - that is it isn't it? I shed a tear -- doubly so as I know that when you think you're about to check out -- any human contact -- even if it is with a nurse you just met, is wholly welcome and somehow fills you with this world rather than the unknown and potentially dark next one. Human contact makes things better.

So this is why you're talking to sad old lonely me then -- you're being nudged by Him to do so? Your perfect job may be to start the worlds first Christian dating agency? :-)

Current song: "And Your Bird Can Sing" -- The Beatles
