"Facts just twist the truth around"

I'm not sure I believe in "facts", I like what David Byrne of Talking Heads sang in a song called "Crosseyed and Painless" from one of my all time favourite albums "Remain in Light" by the Talking heads.

Facts are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late

Facts all come with points of view

Facts dont do what I want them to

Facts just twist the truth around

Facts are living turned inside out

Facts are getting the best of them
Facts are nothing on the face of things

Facts dont stain the furniture

Facts go out and slam the door

Facts are written all over your face

Facts continue to change their shape

"Facts just twist the truth around" sounds quite Biblical to me.

it seems that if truth is made shakey, then so does existence and reality.

Yes, yes ! I think existence and reality are on decidedly dodgy ground. My belief is that if the Universe is based on logical consistent absolute laws then absolute physical Truth can exist, in this case Truth is like the speed of light in a vacuum, it is absolute. Conversely, if the Universe is not based on logical consistent absolute laws then physical truth is only relative, like time. Take the pi example, if the Universe is based on logical consistent absolute laws then it is an absolute Truth that pi is what it is. Conversely if if the Universe is not based on logical consistent absolute laws then pi might vary and the truth of pi being that long number which starts with 3.141592653 ... would be relative to where you happened to be. Physical truth is just like mathematical truth; mathematical truth is "Truth built on the absolute and unvarying axioms of mathematics". Physical Truth is built on the laws of the Universe.

The trouble is that the discovery of Quantum Mechanics threw a spanner in the works by suggesting that we don't know, and can never know if the Universe is constructed from absolute and unvarying laws, therefore by implication we can never know if truth is absolute.

I remember Rusty - a good looking dog, RIP. So why did God make dogs? For a reason or are they just an offshoot of the potential evoluntionary process that led to humans perhaps?
